The European Academy of Gastronomy (AEG) is a non-profit Association founded in Paris by national Academies of Gastronomy of EU member countries.
It is a transnational entity within the area of the European Union, created on the initiative of the International Academy of Gastronomy (AIG), whose goals and ethics it shares.
AEG’s purpose is the safeguard and development of European cultures and culinary heritage, in collaboration with National Academies within the European Union.
As such, it studies at Community and European level all issues related to food and gastronomy. It is qualified to give an opinion and make proposals to any official or private bodies.
It initiates or encourages the creation of Gastronomic Academies in the European Union countries that do not have any as of today.
It encourages and fosters all public and private initiatives and operations of cultural and educational nature regarding food and gastronomy.
It promotes research focusing on the specific qualities of food that are part of the European Union’s culinary heritage, while respecting their traditional characters.
In general it can sponsor all events, study or work within its purpose, and relay its action by various publications and communications aimed at releasing the results.

The European Academy of Gastronomy is legally registered as a non-profit association in France, at the same head office as the International Academy of Gastronomy. Its General Secretariat is located in Warsaw (Poland).
